C. Nathan Harris
Development Director
nathan@transgenderlawcenter.org
415.865.0176 ext. 307

Nathan began as Development Director at Transgender Law Center in July, 2012.

With over eight years in the philanthropic development profession, Nathan has served Central Washington University’s Transforming Lives (a $20M fundraising capacity building campaign) and Brilliant Futures: A Campaign for the University of Illinois (a $2.25B campaign for the University of Illinois system). Stationed in the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Business Administration, Nathan directed annual fund operations and the Business Alumni Association. There he also managed relationships with individual, corporate and foundation scholarship funders to raise leadership philanthropic support from alumni and friends of the CBA.

In 2008, Nathan transitioned his career from higher education to serve the LGBT NFP sector: first at Center on Halsted (Chicago’s LGBT community center) as Director of Individual Giving and, more recently in the same role, at Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Elders (SAGE) headquartered in New York City. In both organizations he worked closely with board of directors and staff leadership to craft winning strategies in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major and planned giving prospects and donors.

Nathan’s volunteer service includes: panelist and speaker for JP Morgan Chase, NYC PRIDE employee group – LGBT Financial and Estate Planning; Co-Chair of Association of Fundraising Professionals Chicago Chapter’s Diversity Committee; member of the board of advisors, UIC Gender and Sexuality Center; guest speaker and facilitator at Public Allies Chicago; panelist and speaker for Chicago’s Donors Forum – Funding LGBT Issues Group Discussion; and, panelist and speaker for the UIC Advancement Team – Raising Support from Diverse Constituencies.
