Safe Bathroom Access Campaign (SBAC)

As a lot of folks know all too well, public restrooms are a place where people who are, or are perceived to be, gender non-conforming are routinely harassed and all too often assaulted. A whole lot of people wish it was easier to use the one that matched their identity and that there were more than two options.

Bathrooms are the single most common public place where the gender binary is strictly enforced. Bathroom advocacy enables us to get people to start thinking about gender-segregated spaces because bathrooms are something that everyone can relate to. In order to help people better understand how they can advocate and organize for bathroom safety, TLC created the groundbreaking publication, Peeing in Peace.

Now that thousands of people have downloaded the guide, TLC has created workshops to help community groups better understand their rights and begin thinking about how to launch an advocacy or organizing campaign. For more information please contact TLC Policy Advocate Danielle Castro at dcastro@transgenderlawcenter.org or by calling 415-513-5166.
