Transgender Law Center congratulates Michelle Enfield, winner of the 2012 Alexis Rivera Trailblazer Award. She was presented with the award during L.A. Trans Pride on June 16, 2012, for her tireless efforts in working with the trans community throughout the L.A. area.

Over the years, Michelle has been a staunch advocate for trans rights, and has been an integral part of our work with our L.A. HEALTH Council, standing out as an amazing advocate of our work throughout L.A. and nationwide – even helping us present at the Creating Change conference last year!

As a prevention specialist with the Red Circle Project, Michelle has been instrumental in reaching out to Native transgender people and helping to provide culturally competent resources, referrals and group level interventions for the Native community.

The Trailblazer Award was recently re-named in honor of Alexis Rivera, who passed away on March 28, 2012. Alexis was one of the first honorees to receive the award, as well as a driving force behind Trans Pride L.A. The award recognizes individuals in the trans and genderqueer community who demonstrate outstanding leadership as community advocates and role models.
