Recently, Cincinnati City Council Members, led by Chris Seelbach, drafted a letter urging interim City Manager Scott Stiles to update the city’s health care coverage policy. On August 22nd, Stiles acted on their encouragement and directed the insurance providers Cincinnati works with to offer complete insurance coverage to transgender employees of the city.

Starting next year, Cincinnati will join a growing number of cities offering health care to their transgender employees, including transition-related care. Chris Seelbach, Cincinnati’s first out gay councilman, has been a champion for fairness and equality.

Transgender Law Center congratulates the city, its employees, and everyone who has helped advocate for this important step!
