For the sixth annual International Transgender Day of Visibility, Transgender Law Center Senior Strategist Cecilia Chung celebrated by joining other trans women of color leaders in educating one of the most visible institutions in the country — the White House.
The event, “A Briefing on the Issues Faced by Trans Women of Color,” gathered a diverse group of transgender advocates to brief the White House on issues facing transgender women of color as part of #TDoV2015 and Women’s History Month. In addition to TLC’s Cecilia Chung, speakers included Bamby Salcedo from the Trans Latina Coalition, Ruby Corado from Casa Ruby, Mattee Jim from Trans People of Color Coalition, LaLa Zannell from the National Anti-Violence Project, Kylar Broadus and Stacey Long Simmons from the National LGBTQ Task Force, Tracee McDaniels from Juxtaposed Center for Transformation, Raffi Freedman-Gurspan from the National Center for Transgender Equality, and Dr. Ayana Elliot, FNP.
