Last week, the Union for Reform Judaism passed a sweeping resolution in support of transgender and gender nonconforming congregants. The resolution urges synagogues to implement LGBT training for staffers, adopt gender-neutral bathrooms, and take other measures to support transgender people.

As Rabbi Ruth Adar told Transgender Law Center, “Obviously a resolution is not in itself a revolution, but it holds up an ideal that will make a difference not only in urban areas but in small towns as well.”

We hope this is just the start, and other denominations will take similar actions. You can check out the resolution here, or read more on the history at The Atlantic.
