nthtdToday is the first ever National Transgender HIV Testing Day (NTHTD), a day to recognize the importance of routine HIV testing, status awareness and continued focus on HIV prevention and treatment efforts among transgender people.

Across the country, there are events happening and organizations participating, including API Wellness, which is offering free and confidential testing in San Francisco throughout the day as well as hosting the first Miss TransformSF Empowerment Pageant & Community Lunch.

As part of the NTHTD initiative, the Center of Excellence for Transgender Health has released a Transgender HIV Testing Toolkit, and you can find that and other information about the day here.

And don’t forget to check out TLC’s Positively Trans program, led by transgender and gender nonconforming people living with HIV who are building a network, sharing stories, and developing advocacy strategies in response to inequities, stigma, and discrimination over punitive laws and lack of legal protections in our local communities.
