Transgender Law Center is thrilled to welcome Ace Portis as the organization’s new Director of Development. Ace is a professional fundraiser with a deep passion for philanthropy, and most recently served as the Major Gifts Officer at the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR).
“I am thrilled to join the amazing team at TLC,” says Ace. “Being in collaboration with such brilliant and passionate individuals who are centering the lives of transgender and gender nonconforming people is my honor. We are in yet another critical moment in our communities and having the ability to support work that seeks to transform this moment into a movement is what I am looking forward to most.”

Ace brings several years of fundraising, project management, and event logistics/management experience. She has committed her life to philanthropic service, spending hundreds of volunteer and board work hours in various capacities. At NCLR, she stewarded all individual donor programs and functions, successfully managing the major giving campaign which raises over $2 million annually. Additionally, she crafted donor centric messaging and communications to support the development functions of the organization.
A recent Bay Area transplant from Washington D.C. with strong Alabama roots, Ace graduated from The University of Alabama and Old Dominion University, earning a B.A. in Higher Education Administration & Community Development and a M.S. Ed in Higher Education Administration respectively. She has dedicated her life to education, social justice, youth, and overall intersectional equality. Ace truly believes that philanthropy is vital to our collective liberation.
