Through TRUTH, Transgender Law Center and GSA Network’s new storytelling campaign, trans and gender non-conforming youth across their country are sharing our stories in the media and with each other to build community among young people, and empathy and understanding with the public. Some of these youth are transgender students who are speaking out to help build support so that we can go to school as our real, true selves and have a fair chance to participate like everyone else.
In California, we have a law called the School Success and Opportunity Act (AB 1266) which gives schools the guidance they need to create policies that make sure all students, including transgender students, can fully participate in school. Other states and districts across the country are implementing similar policies. Unfortunately, some people are trying to stop these policies because they don’t understand why it matters so much.
You can help them understand by sharing your story of why it’s so important to make sure all students, including transgender students, have a fair chance to participate in school programs and facilities.
Will you help us?
