Transgender Day of Remembrance

tdorsfSan Francisco Transgender Day of Remembrance is a community-driven event and is organized by an entirely volunteer steering committee. This event is free to attend but it costs about $2500-$3000 to make it happen — we can use your support! Transgender Law Center is the fiscal sponsor for SF TDOR. 100% of your donations will directly support SF TDOR.

Across the globe, Transgender Day of Remembrance will memorialize transgender and gender nonconforming people who have been killed as a result of transphobia. In 1999, in response to the murder of Rita Hester in Alliston, MA, a handful of transgender people sought to highlight the need for awareness around anti-transgender violence – founding TDOR by holding in silent testimony the names of those lost. TDOR continues to bring attention to the staggering violence endured by our community.
