The following statement can be attributed to Terri Edmonds, mother of Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells:
“The outpouring of care and support has bolstered our spirits and filled our hearts during the most difficult time imaginable, but we ask that you continue to please give us time to mourn our loss as a family.
“We understand the impact that losing Dominique has had on everyone here in Pennsylvania, across the country, and around the world. Our ultimate goals are to ensure that no family experiences what we are experiencing now, and to help create a world where trans people – especially Black trans women – have access to safety.
“Dominique’s life is a light that has not been dimmed. Instead, a fire has been ignited and we want to make sure that we heal and sustain ourselves as a family so that this fire stays lit.
Please respect our privacy during this time.”
