No matter who we are or where we’re from, we all deserve to feel seen, understood, and represented by the media we consume. Media shapes how we view the world, helping us make sense and meaning of polarized and emerging topics. The existence of trans people is as old and inarguable as society itself, yet the rise in far-right attacks on trans folks has contributed to an escalation of mis- and disinformation in reporting on our communities. As journalists and storytellers, you are a key part of the solution.
Transgender Law Center’s Journalist Resource Series offers an actionable rebuttal to dehumanizing, incomplete, and inaccurate narratives about our communities. Each guide, including youth athletics, medical care, reproductive justice, and anti-trans violence provides a critical analysis of common issues in reporting on transgender people, along with a roadmap to improvement. These guides also serve as timely resource hubs for journalists and community members seeking to dive deeper into some of the most salient issues affecting the trans community.
By committing to telling better stories, you can help create a world where people of all genders can grab a magazine off their corner newsstand and see themselves reflected in its pages.
For media inquiries, or to be added to our press list, please contact K Richardson, Communications Manager, at [email protected], who will connect you with a TLC spokesperson. For media requests with a more flexible or longer term deadline, please fill out the Media Intake Form and we will get back to you within a day or two.
