On Wednesday, June 7th, at 12:00pm PST/3:00pm EST, the National LGBT Bar Association and Transgender Law Center will host a call-in addressing the 7th Circuit’s recent groundbreaking ruling affirming the preliminary injunction granted in Whitaker v. Kenosha Unified School District. Ash Whitaker, a transgender boy from Wisconsin, brought the lawsuit last year after his high school barred him from the boys’ bathroom and forced him to use a separate bathroom from all other students. The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the school district’s treatment of Ash violated Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and the Equal Protection Clause of Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution. Hear from members of the legal team and other experts as they talk about how this precedent-setting victory was won and what it means for transgender rights moving forward, particularly in regard to Title IX protection from discrimination for transgender youth.
Join us, and remember to come prepared with questions for our expert panelists!
