(Brooklyn, NY) — Transgender Law Center (TLC), the largest national trans-led organization advocating self-determination for all people, is thrilled to announce the opening of an East Coast office in New York, the third office for the 15-year-old organization. Headquartered in Oakland, CA, TLC also has an office in in Atlanta, GA, home to the organization’s TLC@SONG program focused on the Southern U.S.
“In this moment of intense attack against transgender people, it is more important than ever to build infrastructure across the country for our community to train up, access resources, and fight back,” said Kris Hayashi, executive director of Transgender Law Center. “The opening of this new office builds on TLC’s work over the past several years, through programs like Positively Trans and our National Training Institute, to show up for our community and trust in the power of trans people on the ground.”
TLC’s new East Coast office will be staffed by National Organizing and Policy Strategist Shelby Chestnut and Litigation Director Lynly Egyes, reflecting the organization’s unique mix of legal advocacy and movement-building strategy in its work to keep trans and gender nonconforming alive, thriving, and fighting for liberation.
